About Shawn D. America

I spent my time as a kid rambling the halls in the local public library in Pompano Beach Florida. I was especially drawn to Heinlein, Bradbury,  H. Rider Haggard, Arthur C. Clark, George Orwell, William Gibson, and later, Stephen King and P.K. Dick.

What drew me to science fiction, in particular, were the ideas embedded in the stories. These writers explored philosophical and speculative notions: they represented possible, sometimes wildly improbable, future versions of ourselves.

They showed us a mirror, often an ugly one. It was freeing to think about.

Fast forward nearly forty years, I have spent gobs of time in coffee shops with other writers, honing my craft and picking other creatives brains for what works and what doesn't. This series represents many of the tropes and themes I have loved in other writers, in what I hope is a fresh and present take.
